JEFFREY RABIN: The key evidence in any Social Security Disability claim is the clinical chart. It's what your doctors and therapists and counselors are writing down when you walk into the examining room and while they are examining you.
When we first meet with a client, we discuss in depth the nature of their medical problems and symptoms and determine which type of doctors would be appropriate for the client's conditions and urge them to seek treatment from that type of professional.
Now, there is also a right and a wrong way to go to the doctor. The more our clients understand the importance of being completely truthful and accurate with the doctors, the better their medical care and then the better the evidence that we can get for their disability claim.
So the key point on going to the doctor is to remember to tell the doctor the whole truth. Doctors want to know what you're symptoms and problems are so that they can provide you with the best medical care.
And if you describe your symptoms and problems completely and accurately for the doctor, then that medical chart will accurately describe your problems for the Social Security Administration. Remember, that's the key evidence in your decision.
