World Hepatitis Day

Published by RabinManage

World Hepatitis Day falls on July 28th, and here is your reminder that if you suffer from Hepatitis C you could qualify for disability. Hepatitis C is an inflammatory condition of the liver and is commonly caused by a viral infection. As your Social Security attorney in Rockford, Jeffrey A. Rabin works towards helping you file your claim.

What is Hepatitis C?

Hepatitis C stems from the hepatitis C virus (HCV) and is transmitted through direct contact with infected body fluids. The disease is typically contracted through injected drug use and sexual contact. Hepatitis C is among the most common blood-borne viral infections in the United States.

Hepatitis C can cause liver disease and a multitude of other symptoms that prevent someone from performing normal work activities.

How is it Treated?

Hepatitis C is treated with antiviral medications, but as of today, there is no cure. If liver disease develops as a result of chronic hepatitis C, you may be a candidate for a liver transplant.

How to Prevent Hepatitis C?

In order to prevent hepatitis C, you should not share drug needles, razors or toothbrushes. Since it can be sexually transmitted, you should practice safe sex by using condoms to help decrease the risk of infection.

How Do I Know if I Qualify?

Being diagnosed with hepatitis C does not automatically qualify the individual for Social Security Disability benefits. There are a host of other issues that make a person qualified.

At Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associates, our lawyers have extensive experiences helping people living with hepatitis C understand what qualifies them and how properly fill out their applications.

If you or someone you know is suffering from hepatitis C and are curious if they qualify, schedule an appointment.
