After man is denied SSDI benefits, friends and family pitch in

It's a sad reality, but many people who are unable to work and are entitled to Social Security disability benefits are denied by the Social Security Administration because their condition cannot be formally diagnosed. One man who used to work as an executive for the Toyota Corporation was forced to quit working when his degenerative nerve disorder made it difficult for him to stand or sit for periods of time. The man, who is married and has four sons between...

Social Security adds 52 conditions to ‘compassionate allowances’

The number of conditions that qualify as "compassionate allowances" to the Social Security Administration is growing. The compassionate allowances program was created so that the most severely disabled could receive their benefits faster. Now, many more conditions have been added to the list, which has grown considerably since its inception. Effective in August, 52 conditions will be added to the compassionate allowances list, many of them rare diseases, cancers and neurological disorders. People with such conditions and qualify for compassionate...

Number of baby boomer SSDI applicants may skyrocket

Most members of the baby boomer generation are at least 50 years old, meaning they are at an age where disability is an increasingly likely possibility. Many of them are not quite at retirement age, and that means that many of them may first file for disability benefits. They aren't the only ones applying for benefits. The number of Americans applying for Social Security disability benefits has increased by a staggering 30 percent since 2007. The number of people actually...

Second disability judge in a year placed on leave

There are about 1,500 Social Security disability law judges in the country who consider appeals and decide which applicants should be granted benefits. Now, the second one in the span of a year has been placed on leave. Both judges have something in common: They have very high approval rates. The first judge to go on leave had an approval rate of 100 percent. Of the first 729 cases examined in the first half of fiscal 2011, none of them...

Social Security Checks Delivered Electronically

Change can be good. Then again, there are times when change is good for some, but not for others. The federal government will soon change the way individuals in Illinois and elsewhere receive their Social Security checks. Rather than receiving checks in the mail as they have for years, recipients of Social Security disability benefits and other government benefits will have their funds either directly deposited into a bank account or will receive these benefits through the use of a...

Sufferers of Rheumatoid Arthritis May be Eligible for Disability Benefits

Social Security disability eligibility is limited to people who suffer from medical problems so severe that they are not able to perform work of any type. Applicants must provide medical documentation illustrating their inability to work for a period of time equaling, or expected to equal, 12 months. People in Illinois may be unaware that rheumatoid arthritis is a condition that the Social Security Administration recognizes as an impairment. Those suffering from the condition may be able to receive Social...

Changing the Way People Speak About Those with Disabilities

Millions of people around the world have disabilities. In the United States, many of those with disabilities are able to receive assistance through Social Security Disability Insurance. Despite the large number of people with disabilities and the services that are available to them, some people have not changed the way they treat people with disabilities. In particular, the language they use. Today has been declared the "Spread the Word to End the Word" day. It was created in an effort...

Sisters to be Issued Social Security Cards After Over Twenty Years

Many Illinois residents depend on Social Security Disability Insurance and other benefits to survive, but imagine not having a Social Security number with which to claim any applicable benefits under the Social Security Act. This was the situation for two sisters from rural Kentucky. The two women lived for more than 20 years without Social Security numbers and will finally get government recognition after suing the government. Under the agreement, the State Department will issue passport cards to the two...

Social Security Reform Needed for Minorities, Report Says

As the countries demographics continue to change, some believe changes to the current Social Security system will be necessary. A new report issued by the Commission to Modernize Social Security may pave the way for these changes. The recently released report is based on U.S. Census data indicating that in the coming decades the American population for the first time in history may become a majority-minority nation, meaning the majority of the population will be comprised of minority groups. I want to thank the Rabin legal team for their outstanding support since 2022 in helping Lindsay successfully getting through the SSI application, appeal(s), and finally approval process.

Everyone on your team has been extremely helpful, patient, professional, and diligent in working through this long and arduos process. The fact that Lindsay's file had approximately 3000 pages clearly shows the amount of time, work, and thoroughness the Rabin team has done for Lindsay. My wife, Lindsay and I cannot thank each of you enough for the support you have provided through this process. The SSI decision is a key step in Lindsay's continued progress in working through her disability. The positive outcome of yesterday's hearing clearly shows how your team's collective efforts over several years provided the information needed to have SSI approve the appeal. Thanks again to each and every one of you for your support.

My experience with Jeffrey A Rabin has been very good.

My approval of Social Security disability benefits came much quicker than I had expected. I first met with an associate on April 16, 2020 and we filed my application on May 21, 2020. My application was approved on August 3, 2020, only around a four month process. Even though we were at the beginning of this coronavirus outbreak when we started, it was easy to contact them and complete this process.

Thank you so much for all you and the staff have done for me.

It meant a lot to me every time I called and whoever I talked to knew all about my case. It was wonderful that I didn’t get pushed from one person to another. Your staff was always happy; they acted like they personally know me. But most of all I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW FAST YOU HAD MY CASE DONE. You and your staff really put a smile on my face. Thank you for doing what I couldn’t get done. Everyone will know Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associate

This was an outstanding experience for me from my first appointment to the last.

This Law Firm was very professional kind and considerate of me and my disability. They knew exactly what it was like for me in the real world and absolutely essential to help me explain that and my disability to the Social Security Administration. I definitely could not have done this without them and they have changed my life for the better forever. In my eyes they are the best social security disability law firm in Chicago and the suburbs.

I wanted to say thank you for everything that you did for me, I greatly appreciate it.

You believed in me when a lot and social security did not. I was a risk for you to pay for my medical records, not knowing if you would win, if I had not won you would have been out of a lot of money and time. I have known other attorney’s, and have worked with them in the past, but they are nothing like you! You are a very kind generous human being with compassion. I pray that God will bless you practice and make you very successful ...
