Cancer survivor fighting to change laws surrounding disability benefits

People living in Chicago and beyond might take their health for granted. People get up every day and go to work. However, in an instant, an illness or serious injury can turn a person's life upside down and leave them unable to work and make a living for themselves. When that happens, many people rely on Social Security disability benefits. Through the SSDI program, those who have been or are expected to be unable to work for 12 months may...

Man Admits to Stealing Thousands in Disability Benefits

Millions of Americans receive financial support through Social Security disability benefits. The monthly payments often provide people living in Illinois with basic necessities. However, Social Security disability benefits don't always go to the most deserving recipients. Recently, a 46-year-old man pleaded guilty to theft and fraud for stealing close to $42,000 in disability benefits. Federal prosecutors say that the man claimed that an injury in 2002 prevented him from working. He continued to receive disability benefits through September 2010 even...

Long Waiting Period for Those Applying for SSDI

Individuals who can no longer work because of an illness or injury often find Social Security disability benefits to be hugely beneficial. However, millions of Americans are waiting to be approved. According to one news source, there are currently 1.8 million pending claims. The millions who are waiting to be approved for Social Security disability benefits sometimes have to wait as many as 800 days. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 13 percent of the 27 million Americans age...

Man Could Spend Time Behind Bars for Stealing Disability Benefits

As written about in last week's post, Social Security disability benefits are intended for those who are fully disabled and completely unable to work. However, there are people in Illinois and elsewhere who take advantage of the system. Recently, one man admitted to stealing close to $90,000 in Social Security disability benefits. The 55-year-old man in question is from Trenton, New Jersey. Just this week, he pleaded guilty in federal court to theft of government funds and misrepresentation of a...

Disability Benefits Recipients May Need Extra Help

For many people living in Illinois, their Social Security disability allowance is all that keeps them alive. Many times these benefits are used for basic necessities, such as rent, food and heating bills. Many of those living on SSDI benefits are doing so because a serious illness or injury didn't allow them to continue working. What income they have often comes from their benefits. If a disabled person also has a family to support, the pantry can run dry even...

Relief Programs Often Necessary to Supplement Benefits

Those Illinois residents receiving Social Security disability benefits know from experience what a struggle it is just to survive. During the holiday season, you hear of many relief agencies seeking donations to help families in need. While SSDI benefits can be extremely helpful, they may not cover much more than basic necessities, leaving recipients to find other ways to get by. Some turn to homeless shelters and food banks, while others stand on a street corner requesting donations. In Washington,...

Veterans May Also be Eligible for Disability Benefits

Like most Americans, veterans are entitled to Social Security benefits when they reach retirement, but some veterans will need assistance before they reach retirement if they find themselves injured and unable to work. For those veterans, Social Security disability benefits may be an option. Applying for Social Security disability benefits can seem like a difficult process, but an...

Social Security Administration Errors Affect One Missouri Man

Illinois residents receiving Social Security disability benefits may have experienced problems with the program. Unfortunately, mistakes are sometimes made by the Social Security Administration and those mistakes can have heavy consequences for those affected by them. Even worse, those affected are often those least able to bounce back. Those receiving SSDI Benefits may be interested in the story of one Missouri man who continues to have problems with the system. I want to thank the Rabin legal team for their outstanding support since 2022 in helping Lindsay successfully getting through the SSI application, appeal(s), and finally approval process.

Everyone on your team has been extremely helpful, patient, professional, and diligent in working through this long and arduos process. The fact that Lindsay's file had approximately 3000 pages clearly shows the amount of time, work, and thoroughness the Rabin team has done for Lindsay. My wife, Lindsay and I cannot thank each of you enough for the support you have provided through this process. The SSI decision is a key step in Lindsay's continued progress in working through her disability. The positive outcome of yesterday's hearing clearly shows how your team's collective efforts over several years provided the information needed to have SSI approve the appeal. Thanks again to each and every one of you for your support.

My experience with Jeffrey A Rabin has been very good.

My approval of Social Security disability benefits came much quicker than I had expected. I first met with an associate on April 16, 2020 and we filed my application on May 21, 2020. My application was approved on August 3, 2020, only around a four month process. Even though we were at the beginning of this coronavirus outbreak when we started, it was easy to contact them and complete this process.

Thank you so much for all you and the staff have done for me.

It meant a lot to me every time I called and whoever I talked to knew all about my case. It was wonderful that I didn’t get pushed from one person to another. Your staff was always happy; they acted like they personally know me. But most of all I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW FAST YOU HAD MY CASE DONE. You and your staff really put a smile on my face. Thank you for doing what I couldn’t get done. Everyone will know Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associate

This was an outstanding experience for me from my first appointment to the last.

This Law Firm was very professional kind and considerate of me and my disability. They knew exactly what it was like for me in the real world and absolutely essential to help me explain that and my disability to the Social Security Administration. I definitely could not have done this without them and they have changed my life for the better forever. In my eyes they are the best social security disability law firm in Chicago and the suburbs.

I wanted to say thank you for everything that you did for me, I greatly appreciate it.

You believed in me when a lot and social security did not. I was a risk for you to pay for my medical records, not knowing if you would win, if I had not won you would have been out of a lot of money and time. I have known other attorney’s, and have worked with them in the past, but they are nothing like you! You are a very kind generous human being with compassion. I pray that God will bless you practice and make you very successful ...
