New rule: In-home care providers to receive higher pay

People who receive Social Security disability benefits or Supplemental Security Income often have to coordinate their Medicare and Medicaid benefits, as well as make certain they receive any necessary in-home care. Illinois residents who are approved for SSD benefits can usually start receiving Medicare benefits two years after the SSD benefits start. SSI recipients may be able to receive Medicaid soon after the SSI is approved. Illinois residents who are currently receiving disability benefits and in-home care will want to...

Social Security faces lawsuit for firing language interpreter

If you’ve ever applied for Social Security disability benefits then you know how complicated the form can be. One small mistake can even result in denied benefits, despite demonstrating an obvious disability. In the end, many people are forced to appeal their claim which can take significantly more time and can even require the help of a skilled attorney as well. But while this may be easier said than done for most English speaking Americans, this may not be the...

Kids familiar with disabilities are less apprehensive about them

There are some people in the nation who attach a negative stigma to the words disability and disabled. In most cases, this is because an individual has anxieties when it comes to people with disabilities. This is especially true in our society when it comes to mental conditions. Because of how these conditions are portrayed by the media and in movies and television, many people across the nation may not fully understand what these disabling conditions are and could be...

Some call on Congress to ‘scrap the cap’ on Social Security taxes

As many of our Illinois readers know, some of the benefits programs offered by the Social Security Administration are funded by payroll taxes from across the nation. But while the system is working, in theory, it’s hard not to notice that the programs are running short on money and relatively quickly. Some politicians feel that this is because of the seemingly arbitrary payroll tax cap that only taxes the first $113,700 of a person's income. Some politicians, as well as...

Will the Affordable Care Act really help disabled people?

Controversy has been in a constant state of circulation ever since President Obama announced his plans to launch the Affordable Care Act. Touted as some to be the solution to the nation's health care woes, others may not see it as helpful as it intends to be. This could be found to be especially true for people who require a diagnosis in order to be collect disability benefits. That's because, as many of our readers may not know, preventative screenings...

Will the DOMA decision affect SSI benefits for same-sex couples?

Whether you're receiving Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income, you probably already know that the amount of money you receive in benefits can change drastically depending on your marital status. Many know this because of a December 2003 study released by the Social Security Administration which determined that couples receiving SSI benefits who were cohabitating but were not married received 25 percent more in benefits than their married counterparts. But with the U.S. Supreme Courts recent ruling against...

Accusations of fraud make SSI collection hard for honest people

Readers of our blog know that there are certain social stigmas that are carried by people who take government assistance. Whether it's Food Stamps or Social Security Disability, whether you need it mean little to the general population who often view these people as being leeches on the system or even faking it altogether. While there is no doubt that fraudulent claims exist, to assume that a majority of the people on programs such as SSD and SSI are cheating...

I want to thank the Rabin legal team for their outstanding support since 2022 in helping Lindsay successfully getting through the SSI application, appeal(s), and finally approval process.

Everyone on your team has been extremely helpful, patient, professional, and diligent in working through this long and arduos process. The fact that Lindsay's file had approximately 3000 pages clearly shows the amount of time, work, and thoroughness the Rabin team has done for Lindsay. My wife, Lindsay and I cannot thank each of you enough for the support you have provided through this process. The SSI decision is a key step in Lindsay's continued progress in working through her disability. The positive outcome of yesterday's hearing clearly shows how your team's collective efforts over several years provided the information needed to have SSI approve the appeal. Thanks again to each and every one of you for your support.

My experience with Jeffrey A Rabin has been very good.

My approval of Social Security disability benefits came much quicker than I had expected. I first met with an associate on April 16, 2020 and we filed my application on May 21, 2020. My application was approved on August 3, 2020, only around a four month process. Even though we were at the beginning of this coronavirus outbreak when we started, it was easy to contact them and complete this process.

Thank you so much for all you and the staff have done for me.

It meant a lot to me every time I called and whoever I talked to knew all about my case. It was wonderful that I didn’t get pushed from one person to another. Your staff was always happy; they acted like they personally know me. But most of all I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW FAST YOU HAD MY CASE DONE. You and your staff really put a smile on my face. Thank you for doing what I couldn’t get done. Everyone will know Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associate

This was an outstanding experience for me from my first appointment to the last.

This Law Firm was very professional kind and considerate of me and my disability. They knew exactly what it was like for me in the real world and absolutely essential to help me explain that and my disability to the Social Security Administration. I definitely could not have done this without them and they have changed my life for the better forever. In my eyes they are the best social security disability law firm in Chicago and the suburbs.

I wanted to say thank you for everything that you did for me, I greatly appreciate it.

You believed in me when a lot and social security did not. I was a risk for you to pay for my medical records, not knowing if you would win, if I had not won you would have been out of a lot of money and time. I have known other attorney’s, and have worked with them in the past, but they are nothing like you! You are a very kind generous human being with compassion. I pray that God will bless you practice and make you very successful ...
